The Super Charged "Dawg Watch" 2011

Mooresville's own Chris Cline has been busy this winter getting the Christine Plymouth ready for Quick 8 Mad Dawg wars. Seen here at the Gibbs Race Cars shops, Cline has totally redone the rear suspenision on the supercharged entry. Could we see a sub four second pass out of the new light weight Mopar? Will keep you updated.

Veteran drag racer Bobby Baucom of Charlotte, NC has added his name to the Quick 8 Mad Dawg fights in 2011 with his slick running super charged Chevrolet Camaro. Seen here at the Farm, Baucom should be a top threat to collect his first Quick 8 Mad Dawg win come May 28th at the "Dawg House" Mooresville Dragway.

It looks like the Quick 8 Mad Dawgs will be loaded up with tons of great super charged action in 2011. The Kernersville, NC team of Charles and Tracy Terrell have also been busy this winter reworking their Ford Mustang. A new slick blue paint has been applied to the three second running Hemi powered blown Mustang. Terrell will definitely be a contender for a first Quick 8 Mad Dawg win and a place in the new Mega Machine Shop 3 second club.

Farmington's Opening Points Race Weekend March 19-20

What another great weekend of drag racing as Farmington Dragway kicked off it’s 2011 Points race series. Over 200 different racers were on hand to participate in the MHR, RV Landscaping, A-1 Mobile Marine, Williams Brothers, Pepsi Farm Racers Series.

 Taking Saturday feature wins was Cameron Manuel in TOP Eliminator, Tim Griffith in Foot Brake, Zachery Pauley in Junior Dragster, Tia Tutterow in Teen Farm Racers and Rocky Sidden in

Super Street

. Manuel the reigning IHRA Super Rod World Champion drove his Justice Racing Undercover Dragster to the TOP Eliminator class win over Jonesville, NC’s Boone Swaim in his G&G Energy Chevrolet Camaro. The TOP Dash for Cash winner Swaim went red off the start to give Manual the automatic win going a winning 4.53 ET at 151 MPH to the foul start 7.25 ET at 92 MPH of Swaim. 2010 TOP Champion Bobby Williams of Kernersville, NC was the lone semi-finalist in his “Dead Serious” Chevrolet Camaro.

  2009 MJ Foot Brake Champions Showdown winner Tim Griffith of Cedar Bluff, VA drove his Chevrolet Cavalier to the no electronics Foot Brake win defeating 2009 Foot Brake champion Ray Crane of Morganton, NC. Griffith in his slow but steady entry had a better reaction time from the start to hold off a quicker Crane in his Stock Yard Steaks and Country Buffet Buick. Griffith ran a 9.63 ET at 70 MPH to the quicker 7.43 ET at 87 MPH time of the former Farm Champ Crane.

Darrell Powell of Morganton, NC was the lone semi-person in his Chevrolet Camaro.  Mark Dudley of Walkertown, NC in his Dodge Dart and Ernie Humes of Troutman, NC in his Dodge Demon was the co-Dash for Cash winners in Foot Brake.

  Davie High School student Zachery Pauley of Advance, NC made a statement Saturday by dominating the opening Junior Dragster race. Pauley won a special best reaction bonus in round one of time runs with a “001 light and never looked back until the finals were over. In the finals against the regaining Junior Dragster Dillon Winkler of China Grove, NC he used a better reaction time and ran a 7.94 ET at 75 MPH to beat the “Ice Man” Winkler’s 8.02 ET at 82 MPH run. In the semi-finals Pauley had to stop good friend Ryan Crew in his Advance, NC based Dragster to advance to the finals.  Jason Halsey of Independence, VA collected the other best reaction award by the Williams Brothers and John Holman.

 A pair of third generation drag racers Tia Tutterow of Lewisville, NC and Justin Stanley of Greensboro, NC made up Teen Farm Racers finals in the opening Farm Points race action. Tia riding with Grandpa Tom in his Dodge Truck ran a 10.10 ET at 69 MPH to stop the MJ Power Ranger Ford of Justin and dad Levi, Jr. Good friends Nick McDowell and Corey Manual of Winston-Salem, NC were semi-finalist.

class win defeating Danny Smith of High Point, NC in his Chevrolet S-10 Truck. The “Rock” broke out the least going a 10.75 ET off a 10.81 dial-in to Smith’s 10.29 ET off a 10.36 Dial-in final fun.

 Taking Farm Racers Series victories on Sunday was Levi Stanley, Jr, in TOP Eliminator, Robert Benge. Jr in Foot Brake, Robert Vogler, Jr. in Junior Dragster, Corey Manuel in Farm Teen Racers and Danny Smith in

Coming out of the ghetto side for the TOP Eliminator win was Levi Stanley, Jr. driving his Beal Racing Engines, Senior Racing Race Tech Dragster defeating Brandon Hutchens of Yadkinville, NC in his Chrysler LeBaron. “Lil Levi” used a better reaction time of the start at ran a 4.85 ET at 139 MPH to beat out the 5.30 ET at 133 MPH run of the “Drifter Too” Hutchens. This was Stanley’s first career Farmington Dragway TOP Eliminator win and not bad considering they had just put the motor back in the car late Friday. Three time Farm Champion Mike Hutchens of Yadkinville, NC and Boone Swaim of Jonesville, NC was semi-finalist.

 Robert Benge, Jr of Mount Airy, NC drove the wheels of his Benge Masonry Chevrolet Camaro to take the Foot Brake win over Farmington, NC’s Jeff Flood in his Chevrolet Vega. Former Farm MOD ET Champion Flood turned it red (foul) at the start giving the 2009 Farm Motorcycle champion the automatic Foot Brake class win. Benge ran a 5.94 ET at 116 MPH on the all 1/8^th mile concrete race surface to the runner-up 6.54 ET at 112 MPH time of the Flood man. Kelly Stevens of Bostic, NC and Timmy Alexander of Mocksville, NC was semi-finalist.

 2011’s Junior Dragster “Hot Shoe” Robert Vogler, Jr. of Lewisville, NC drove his Embee Performance, RV Landscaping, Hank Thomas Performance Dragster to the win over Saturday’s semi finals man Ryan Crews. The Advance, NC racer Crews red-lighted by.008 of the start handing Vogler his first FRS point’s race win of the young season. The “Hit Man” Vogler ran a 7.89 ET at 82 MPH to collect his third win this season. One at Coastal Plains and Rockingham Drag way’s earlier this year. The Taylor Davis of Thomasville, NC was the lone semi-finalist in his “Blowin Money” Dragster.

 After blowing a motor in his Junior Dragster the day before, Corey Manual of Winston-Salem, NC rebounded with a first time Farm Teen Racer victory over Saturday’s winner Tia Tutterow of Lewisville, NC on Sunday. Manuel in his Ford Truck used a better reaction time and ran an 11.36 ET at 55 MPH to beat out Tia’s 10.04 ET at 70 MPH run by five thousandths at the finish line. Kaleb Dunlap of Mocksville, NC was the lone semi-finalist in his mom’s Ford Mustang.

 Danny Smith of High Point, NC used a dead on the dial in run in the finals (10.26 ET on a 10.26 dial-in) with his Chevrolet S-10 Truck to stop quicker 8.99 ET at 81 MPH run of Winston-Salem, NC’s Amanda Justice in her slick new 2011 Chevrolet Camaro. Second generation drag racer Blake Brown of Winston-Salem, NC was the lone semi-finalist.

 The next Farm Racers Series Points races are scheduled for Saturday, April 2^nd and Sunday, April 3^rd, at Farmington Dragway. Gates open Saturday, April 2^nd at 9 AM, Time runs start at 12 noon, 2 Time runs at GO racing.

 Sunday, April 3^rd- Gates open at 9 AM, God Speed Church Services by Stuart Smith at 10:30 AM, 1 Time Run starting at 12:15 PM and then GO racing.

Farm Lowers Gate Admission To $10.00 For Points Races

Farmington Dragway has just made it more affordable to come be apart of the best drag racing in the southeast each weekend. Due to the ever increasing fuel prices and the cost of living, the management at Farmington has lowered the gate admission price for crew members and spectators alike to just $10.00 at Farm Race Series Points races that doesn’t have a special show. After last weekend’s great turn out for the Dollars Day event the decision was made to lower the gate admission to $10.00 starting with the this weekend’s ( March 19-20) first two points races of 2011. Farmington Dragway has always been a family oriented type facility and this decrease of the gate admission will hopefully make it affordable for the racer’s crew members and spectators alike to come and enjoy drag racing at it’s best at the Farm.

 The road to the 2011 FRS championship starts this weekend March 19-20, in TOP Eliminator, Foot Brake, Junior Dragster, Street and Farm Teen Racers classes. Bobby Williams of Kernersville, NC drove his “Dead Serious” Chevrolet Camaro to his first ever Farmington Dragway TOP Eliminator title. Bobby along with brother Tony beat out Dragster (long car) driver’s Darrell Collins of Winston-Salem, NC, Rick Henry of China Grove, NC and Durant Cottingham of Thomasville, NC to become the first door car driver to win the TOP Eliminator since 2000. Twenty year old Ernie Humes of Troutman, NC collected his first ever Farmington Foot Brake title driving his Humes Motorsports Dodge Demon. Humes, the youngest driver to ever win the class title, had to beat out thirteen time Farmington track champion Chris Plott of Mocksville, NC. The “Ice Man” Dillon Winkler of China Grove, NC came from behind to over take Robert “the Hit Man” Vogler of Lewisville, NC to collect his first ever Junior Dragster track championship at Farmington. Dennis Jefferson of Mt. Airy, NC laid claim to his first Farm title taking the Street Division championship over Clemmons, NC’s Staci Hampton. Third generation drag racer Robert Moser of Yadkinvillle, NC won the new Farm Teen Racers class for 13 to 17 year olds. Moser, riding along with his dad Bobby Moser, Jr. drove their Ford Truck to the class title defeating Franklin Keen and his dad from Connelly Springs, NC.

Farm Has Super Weather For Spring Dollars Day & Free Race Opener

The only way to describe this past opening weekend at Farmington Dragway is ..BLESSED! The weather, the crowd and racing was unbelievable for the annual Spring Dollars Day Flea Market and Race for Free.

 Taking the two year delayed Race of Champions win in TOP Eliminator was seven time TOP Eliminator champion Tommy Plott of Winston-Salem, NC in his Hank Thomas Performance, Beal Racing Engines Race Tech Dragster defeating two time Farm champion Darrell Collins of Winston-Salem, NC in his HTP Race Tech Dragster. What a final run between the two former Farm champs…as Plott was .010 at the tree going a 4.752 ET off a 4.74 dial-in (.012 off) and Collins with a .014 reaction time and running a 4.878 ET off a 4.87 dial (.008 off). When all the math was done it would be a “Dead Heat” run between the two and the win going to “TP” via the better reaction time. Vance Houston of Spruce Pine, NC was the lone semi-finalist driving Howie Adams Buck Racing Engines Race Tech Dragster.

  The Duck Tape Man…Michael Beard of Seagrove, NC captured the Foot Brake ROC race Saturday defeating Mooresville, NC’s Tim Cowick. Only two thousandths of a second separate the two Mopar racers off the start, with former IHRA and MJ Showdown Champion Beard taking the lesser breakout victory over Cowick. The ’85 Plymouth of Beard ran a 9.79 ET off a 9.80 Dial-in to the 6.30 ET off a 6.32 dial-in run of Cowick in his ’70 Dodge. Ernie Humes of Troutman, NC and David Spaugh of Lexington, NC was Foot Brake semi-finalist.

  Corey Manuel of Winston-Salem, NC flexed his muscles Saturday taking his first ever Junior Dragster Race of Champions win over Jason Halsey from Independence, VA. Manuel in his “Fastech” Dragster picked up the win off the start as the NAPA backed Dragster of Halsey red-lighted by .005  at the tree.

The current Junior Dragster champ Dillon Winkler of China Grove, NC and Taylor Weatherford from Danville, VA was semi-finalist.

Thanks to the fifty-two drivers that showed up for the two year delayed Farmington Dragway Race of Champions event that is reserved for racers that win a race at Farmington. Don’t forget the 2011 ROC event will be Saturday, December 3^rd, 2011 for all this year’s race winners.

  Over 160 entries participated in Sunday’s Dollars Day Race for Free event at Farmington Dragway. Taking his first career TOP Eliminator win was Timberlake, NC’s high school student Brandon Pottoroff in his Haw River Flooring Race Tech Dragster. The former Junior Dragster standout in his first TOP race at Farmington used a five thousandths total package to defeat the seven time TOP champion Tommy Plott of Winston-Salem, NC in his Beal Racing Engines/Hank Thomas Performance/ TSR Race Tech Dragster. Pottoroff used a .001 reaction time and ran a 5.084 ET off a 5.08 Dial-in at 136 MPH to stop the veteran Plott’s .034 RT, 4.77 ET off a 4.73 at 142 MPH run. Current Div.9 Hot Rod Champion Matt Robinson of Garner, NC and Michael Combs of Bristol, TN in his Smith Brothers HD Dragster was semi-finalist.

  He was a round short the day before in the Foot Brake ROC race, but Sunday David Spaugh wouldn’t be denied a win, as the former two time Foot Brake champion collected the Dollars Day win over ROC runner-up Tim Cowick. The Ford Mustang entry of Spaugh’s turned it green off the start by .033 and ran a 7.15 ET at 96 MPH to get the Dollars day win over a too quick off the tree start (red-light) by Cowick in his Mooresville, NC based Dodge. Bobby York of Pleasant Garden, NC and Tim Griffith of Cedar Bluff, VA was semi-finalist.

  The “Hit Gal” Janna “Boo” Vogler of Lewisville, NC drove her brother’s Embee Performance/ RV Landscaping  Dragster to the opening day Junior Dragster class win Sunday, defeating Ryan Crews of Advance, NC. Both youngsters was .04 off the tree as the Crews got to the stripe first by .004 too much break out (7.916 ET off a 7.92 Dial-in at 80 MPH). Ms. Vogler ran a winning 7.93 ET off a 7.91 Dial-in at 80 MPH to keep the Vogler Racing Team winning streak alive. Older brother Robert had won at Coast Plains and Rockingham earlier this young season with the “Hit Man” Dragster and with the win Sunday by sister Janna, the car hasn’t been beat in regular racing action.
